Welcome!!!

Hey there and welcome to my first online portfolio! I am so excited to finally share my work/school projects with anyone who knows to use the internet!
I should tell you a little about myself so you know why I chose DoubleDeckerDesign.com as my site!

I’m a 22 year old graphic design student at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. My mom and dad are both musicians (dad is a music professor at Samford and mom is a private voice teacher with her own studio) so you can imagine we tend to be a very colorful and goofy family who loves music. I was born and raised in Birmingham and love it dearly!!!

In 1991, my family and I ended up living in London for a semester through a study program at Samford. We were there because Dad served as the professor in residence at the London Study Centre (now The Daniel House) in Kensington, right around the corner from the Gloucester Road tube stop. My sister and I both went to school there and fell in love with the culture and environment. It was wonderful because the 13 Samford students in the house with us became a part of our family as well. It was way too much fun. Sadly, though, it was only one semester...

...But it didn’t end there...

In 1995 we spent the Summer there as the family in residence (it was sort of like running a bed & breakfast). In 1999, my sister spent a semester there as a Samford student for the Spring and we joined her for the Summer to be family in residence again! Of course, my mom and dad just had to do another semester, so in the Fall of 2002 they took their most recent group of Samford students (sadly my sister and I couldn’t go this time: I had school and Allison had work). We did get to visit them for Thanksgiving though! To wind this all up... we keep going and going and when we can’t seem to find a reason to go we just make up a new one.

In fact, my sister, Allison, based some of her business The Chelsea Lion on her love for London and the beautiful silver antiques found in its markets (I designed her website as well- please feel free to visit hers!!! Your always welcome to come back to mine though!!!) She goes over on buying trips (I get to be her camel if I go with her!) Some of the pictures in my Photo album are of our June trip this past Summer (2004)!

If you can’t imagine why I love London enough to use it as a theme for my online portfolio then please explore it some more! It’s a little too obvious! I hope you enjoy my work!
