January 19 2005,

I hope you are enjoying my web site! I just recently updated it. You can now see what I did last semester in my classes (Publication, Flash) and such!

Not much has been going on here in Birmingham. Jan-terms are usually like that. I can't complain though since last semester was such an energy drainer (i did enjoy it though!)...(Jan-term I'm taking Aerobics! Great fun!). Well, hey, I'll start leaving better entries but for right now that's about it! See ya later!!!!! :o)

The start of a new semester always brings me to a little bit of a crisis! I think "Oh no... maybe I won't be able to handle it this time or maybe this is the semester I'll actually have that break down I've been dreading!" ...Well as you can imagine I ask myself this a lot... but always pull through and am stronger and usually happier for it! I have high hopes!!!

we'll see :o) Abigail

This morning I skipped church (whoops) and went to the Botanical Gardens for my Studio Photography class. We are designing a magazine ad using black and white photos of the gardens. It's difficult because we are supposed to entice people to come there during the cold winter season! Who really wants to freeze off their whatever in the dead of winter!? ... So... our prof told us to focus on lights and darks/ shadows/ textures/ and all that! And through it all we should be able to show people that the BG is like a winter haven. This morning I have to admit it was quite lovely walking through the cold with the sun popping in and out here and there! It really was beautiful!

So... anyone who actually takes the time to read my nonsense needs to go to the Botanical Gardens and see the romance of Winter! There might not be flowers blooming around every corner but the ambiance of approaching Spring is quite enchanting!

love ya! Abigail

Well today was an officially dreary day! It wasn't a heavy downpour or a pleasant drizzle. Instead, it felt as if the sky was angry and decided to spit on me... all day! There is no way I can take my photos for my Winter BG project in this kind of weather. Can't we just skip to Spring! Uh Oh... there I go again... wishing my life away! Well, okay, I guess I should just stop complaining and be thankful... even for the spitting rain :o) Maybe the sky will be in better spirits tomorrow!

hopefully, Abigail

Work, work, work. My mantra.

I just finished all the publicity stuff for SU's theatre production of The Return To The Forbidden Planet at the beginning of the week. Though I'm exhausted I'm very happy with the outcome (and so are they...I believe). They had me design the basic poster (which is what I usually do) as well as the banner above the door, t-shirts, an emblem to go on the costumes, and a logo for the gobo light they'll be shining on the outside building wall. It was a ton of work but really cool cause I had never done that much for a single show before! I'll update my poster pages and put up examples of the work I did. Maybe I'll take some digital shots of the gobo light and the banner once they're up! :o) How fun!!!

A few weeks before all that I created a very simple but successful design for the first semester play The Boys Next Door and was pleased with the outcome as well. In fact, I'm going to see the production this Sunday and am definitely in the mood for a good show (which I hear it is!). The last show I saw of the theatre department was The Velveteen Rabbit (last semester). I did that poster, as well, and you can see it in my gallery (posters page 3). The show was fantastic! It was especially great when they had the morning performance for the area school children. I remember hearing them all laughing and cheering in between my morning classes. It was so much fun having all of them on campus! I bet they were an awsome audience!

While things begin winding down on the theatre end, my classes definitely begin to heat up! In fact, with all the outside work I'm doing (a lot not to do with the theatre too) my classes have sadly taken a back seat and it's beginning to show. However, things have already started to change for the better since Spring break is peaking around the corner. It's crunch time because of all the projects due before the break...

In addition to class work, I have to finish memorizing all of my music for tour because we (Samford's A Cappella Choir) leave next Friday!!!!

What to do...What to do... oh yes... that's right... my mantra... work, work, work. Oh, I hope it all comes together in the end! :o)

It usually does!

Frazzled but focused!
